Summer So Far

Fall is over a month away, but back-to-school season is in full swing and there is a noticeable shift in the air. We’ve had a soggy summer throughout Maine, with June as one of the rainiest on record. [1, 2] That being said, we’re staying optimistic for a fair-weather fall and continue squeezing in the coursework between the chance of showers and thunderstorms.

EVENTS & HAPPENINGS

MRDG leagues have been running strong and we started scoring with UDisc Leagues this year, which means anyone can follow along live! Many thanks to Jodi & Mikey for setting this up. All the league results can be found here: UDisc Leagues

We hosted a USDGC Doubles Qualifier in July and are so excited to send off the winners to the Main Event in Rock Hill, SC at the end of September. Congrats to Mike Michaud & Derek Ouellette on winning the Men’s division and Danielle Hathaway & Katy Donovan on winning the Women’s!

Waldo came to visit the course through the month of July and we also made a Kids Scavenger Hunt to keep the little ones busy while mom & dad play. If your kiddos haven’t tried it yet, the Scavenger Hunt cards will stay out next to the scorecards for the rest of the season.

We’re gearing up to host the Maine Players Tour on Sunday, August 20. Players can register online now through Friday, August 19 at 8 pm. Our players make the best food, so we’re looking forward to our potluck lunch!

On Sunday, August 27, we’ll be having our annual Bag Tag Tournament for local players in place of Doubles league. Reach out if you’re interested or sign up online. Registration closes on August 20.

UPDATES

We’ve been able to add some new teepads and picnic tables (including a double decker we love up front), a rock wall on Hole 4, and 2 new Mach VII practice baskets to the course.

We’ve had some new Hole Sponsors in 2023 and we thank them for their support!

We announced an update to our green fees last month (read more here). Green fees are now based on an $8 daily pass, providing unlimited rounds for the day. We appreciate all the support we’ve received and continue to receive from our players!

As the disc golf season starts winding down, clubhouse hours will shift to weekends only in September. Make sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with all the updates.

🎊CONGRATULATIONS🎊

We want to wish a big congratulations to Matt Enman & Nikki Cochran on their recent engagement and to Derek and Sage Ouellette on their new baby boy, Eli!

We’ll finish with ‘Our Story’ that we shared on socials earlier this month. We hope to see you soon! ~ Amy

We’ve seen some new faces recently and I always love to learn about a person’s story. This is ours (told by Amy)…

As many do, this one starts as a love story. Owen and Amy become official back in summer 2002 – the glory days of a teenage romance. After high school, Amy goes to college and Owen starts working for the Enmans at Enman Riverside Disc Golf in Caribou and later at DR Disc Golf in Orrington. Fast forward to 2015, with a baby on the way (that would be Camilla!), we decide to take the plunge and embark on Owen’s dream to build a disc golf course on the land where he grew up, at 862 Houlton Road in Westfield. Maple Ridge Disc Golf was born in the fall of 2015 when he finished the 9-hole loop, about 3 weeks before the birth of their oldest daughter (who was early by a month!). It was an exciting time to say the least. By fall of 2016, ‘The 18’ was roughed in and we were off. Caroline came along in 2020 and the family was complete. This is us! Owen, Amy, Camilla and Caroline Holland. It’s nice to meet you!
